Growth Through Energy & Community Health (GTECH) Strategies is a nonprofit social enterprise investing in community revitalization through green economic development initiatives.

They partner with community organizations, service providers, and public agencies  to develop and implement community-based projects that include vacant land management, green infrastructure, weatherization and retrofitting, deconstruction, residual waste reuse, and biofuel production.

TreeVitalize

Responding to an alarming trend of the loss of trees in Pennsylvania’s metropolitan areas, TreeVitalize is a public-private partnership to help restore tree cover, educate citizens about planting trees as an act of caring for our environment, and build capacity among local governments to understand, protect and restore their urban trees.

Grow Pittsburgh

Grow Pittsburgh’s mission is to to demonstrate, teach and promote responsible urban food production.  They accomplish this in four ways: Growing food, training farmers, being involved in the community, and building green project capacity.

Allegheny CleanWays

 

Allegheny CleanWays’ mission is to engage and empower residents to eliminate litter and illegal dumping in Allegheny County.  Last year, they celebrated a decade of work in the county by removing 211 tons of debris from the City of Pittsburgh. Allegheny CleanWays also provides communities throughout the county with supplies (gloves, bags, safety vests, equipment, etc) and training to conduct large and small cleanups of their community.

Western PA Conservancy

The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy protects and restores exceptional places to provide our region with clean waters and healthy forests, wildlife and natural areas for the benefit of present and future generations.
